This 7-Day Uganda Murchison and Kidepo Wildlife Safari is a combined Uganda wildlife safari that offers great game drives, boat cruises, culture, and beautiful landscapes. The trip starts and ends in Kampala /Entebbe.

Murchison Falls National Park lies in the northwestern region, approximately a 4- to 5-hour drive from Kampala. The park boasts lots of attractions and activities to do along your safari in Uganda.

Kidepo Valley National Park is renowned as an unmatched wildlife safari destination, located in the northeastern part of Uganda estimating about 9 to 10-hour drive from Kampala. Home to a diversity of wild animals and bird species.

This 7-day Kidepo and Murchison Falls Wildlife Safari is an ultimate wildlife safari that takes you to the untouched wilderness of Kidepo Valley National Park a home to vast wild animals like elephants, giraffes ,lions,zebras,buffaloes,leopards,duikers ,waterbucks ,kobs, cheetahs ,eland ,reedbucks among others during the game drives. It will also take you to Uganda’s largest and oldest national park ‘’Murchison Falls National Park’’ home to world’s most powerful waterfall and supports diversity of wildlife across, dramatic landscapes. Animals to see include elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hartebeest, giraffes, waterbucks, Jacksons, lions among others. The trip starts and ends in Kampala or Entebbe.

Day 1 :

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Gulu via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

On your first day of the trip, you will be welcomed by our expert safari driver-guide, who will brief you about the safari and then set off on the journey to Gulu at around 7 a.m. You will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking and then proceed for another stopover for en–route lunch. Afterward, you will proceed to drive through spectacular views of the scenic landscape, farmlands, homesteads, and local people, among others. Upon arrival in Gulu, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 :

Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park – Afternoon game drive

After a morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver-guide for a transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch; after that, you will go for an afternoon game drive. During the game drive, you will drive to Narus River, the only permanent water source in the park, which supports a large concentration of animals. Animals to see include: elephants, lions, Klipspringer, Diki Dik, among others. Afterward, you will be connected to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay

Day 3 :

Day 3: Full day game drive in Kidepo National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive where you will be able to spot various predators like leopards, lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, and others if you are lucky. Other animals include buffaloes, elephants, duikers, jackals, bushbucks, zebras, bohor reedbucks, waterbucks, Oribis as well as enjoying memorable pictures of the sunrise, among others. Have a break at the lodge for a hot lunch.

After lunch, drive to Kanangorok Hot Spring, where you will enjoy spectacular views of the mountains and animals, and have a great opportunity to interact with people who come to pay homage, offer sacrifices, and seek blessings from the hot springs, among others. After a drive in the park, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 04 :

After an early breakfast, you will be picked by your driver-guide to go for another morning game drive, where you will be able to view some of the animals that you might have missed during the previous game drives. Afterward, return to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the evening, go on an impressive Karamojong cultural tour, where you can interact with local people, learn about their traditional way of life, visit their homesteads, enjoy traditional entertainment, and buy craft souvenirs and more. After the cultural encounter, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 05 :

Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up and have breakfast at the lodge; your driver-guide will pick you up and then transfer you to Murchison Falls National Park, which lies in the northwestern region of Uganda. On the way, you will have en route and enjoy beautiful views of the scenery, landscape, traditional homesteads, among others. On arrival at the park, you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 06 :

Day6: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

After an early breakfast ,your driver –guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to observe animals like warthogs, elephant ,Kobs ,buffaloes ,Jacksons hartebeest ,giraffes ,waterbucks many more. On a lucky day, you will also view some predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas before they go back to their hiding areas, and view different bird species. After your game drive adventure, connect to the lodge for lunch.

After having lunch, embark on an exciting boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, where you will enjoy panoramic views of the beautiful scenery and view hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, and antelopes along the shores. Have a chance to spot various water birds like bee-eaters, fish eagles, cormorants, among others. After the boat cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 07 :

Day 7: Visit the Top of the falls and Departure to Kampala

On your last day of the safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver–guide to drive you to the top of the falls, where you will enjoy rewarding views of the waterfall and memorable picture taking. Then after, you will drive out of the park and depart back to Kampala. Enjoy en-route lunch on the way and proceed to Kampala. Arriving early evening and upon arrival, your driver-guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled departure flight, or be dropped off at any place of your choice. How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
